Galvanic processes

What is galvanic treatment?

Galvanization is a process by which a metal product is coated with a thin layer of different metal to protect it from corrosion. The process is called in various ways depending on the metal used for the protective film.

Several galvanizing methods

The industrial galvanizing operation can be performed in two different ways:

  • Through hot galvanization, the article to be treated is completely immersed in a galvanic bath (molten metal) and covered with a protective film.
  • Through cold galvanization, the article to be treated is immersed in an electrolytic solution that serves to adhere the protection to the article itself through a process called electrolysis, by which the ions of the protective material migrate to the metal to be treated uniformly and accurate.

Each craft and small metal to be treated is carefully cleaned mechanically and subjected to decapping to be subsequently machined and to ensure the best quality and possible result.
Galvanizing is referred to as the protective film used: the most common galvanizations are silver (silver based), cadmium (cadmium-based), cobalt (cobalt-cobalt), gilding (Based on gold), nickel plating (brass), brass (brass) brass, plumbing (lead-based), copper (copper-based), zinc plating (based on nickel) Of zinc).

Galvaniche F.B. method

We use the rotobarile galvanizing method for the treatment of metal parts, which consists of the insertion of small articles to be galvanized into a continuous rotating barrel during machining. There are several benefits of this technique:

  • Reduced working times
  • Uniform and precise covering of the protective material
  • Greater resistance to corrosion
  • High quality of the final result

Among our services, we also carry white galvanic treatments (also with acid copper).
We can also make samples on request and consult on the treatments to be used on the surfaces of the artifacts that you want to treat.

Nickel plating

The nickel plating consists in coating the article with a thin layer of nickel protective film, which protects the product from the same rust and dullness. Nickel plating gives the object more “vintage” than the chrome plating, with the color tending to the yellow. On the contrary, it is also possible to carry out nickel free treatments, mainly intended for the clothing industry, which can reduce any allergies caused by nickel contact with the skin. The nickel free treatment is carried out using as a replacement material, a white bronze alloy.

Gilding

Gilding consists of coating the product with a thin layer of golden film. Gilding gives the object the beauty that only a precious metal like gold can give, while maintaining the economic object, as only the outer surface is actually made of gold. The gilding technique is mainly used in the field of clothing, precious glasses and all those items that require small value finishes.

Copper plating

The copper plating consists in coating the article with a thin copper film layer. The copper plating is often used in industry as an intermediate step for other treatments such as gold plating, silver plating, nickel plating …. The copper plating is mainly used in the electric-electronic industry for the coating of a lower conductive capacity conductors (such as aluminum cables): in fact, copper is renowned for its great conductive can (such as gold) compared to other metals.

Browning

Browning consists of coating the product with a thin layer of dark brass film through the diving of the object in a basic carbonate bath of copper and ammonia. Browning can be made with different dark intensity variants: black, black, graphite, gray-steel, bronze-antique etc. can be obtained. It is very much appreciated in modern furnishings and for clothing stores.

Bronzing

The bronzing consists of coating the article with a thin film layer of bronze. The bronzing, for the typical color characteristic, is greatly used in furniture and fixtures as it combines perfectly with the warm colors of the wood of the gates are made knobs, handles, hinges, door viewers, bolts. Thanks to its “vintage” effect, this treatment is also used to make copies of old statuettes and other furnishing accessories. One variant of this treatment is white bronze (nickel free treatment): this technique replaces traditional nickel coating in the clothing industry. Nickel plating is the cause of many skin allergies: using white bronze it is possible to remedy the problem without compromising the final result, in fact the white bronze has the same aesthetic result as traditional nickel.
